Do you have a couple minutes? I just started my own business with Mary Kay and I'm in a challenge to sell 25 items in my 1st week to earn a fab prize.......?  My mentor asked me to contact everyone I thought would be excited for me and would be willing to help with my start up.  You were one of the first people I thought of!  Is there any chance you or anyone around you could use a mascara or anything? (wait for her response)

 

 

WHEN SHE SAYS "YES"

OMGee YAY!!  Thank you!  (ask if she knows what she wants, write out a sales slip for her order.)   Also you will be excited to know that the 1st 25 people to order from me will get a special surprise from me!  I am so excited to be able to spoil YOU!  Do you have a pen?  I will (give/)text you the link/address to the Look eCatalog and/or my website!   (insert web address here)  If I don't hear back, I will definitely touch base again with you in a few days!  I appreciate your support and look forward to treating YOU!

IF SHE IS LOOKING AT THE CATALOG BUT HASN'T ORDERED YET

Hi (name)!  I am touching base with you as promised! Have you had a chance to take a peek at the eCatalog?  My absolute favorite product is CHARCOAL MASK (or insert your fav) This is why I think your will love it (insert reason)  I would LOVE to answer any questions you have about anything!!!

WHAT TO DO AFTER A SALE

1.  CALCULATING SALES TAX AND SHIPPING

1.  Google the sales tax rate of your city and state if you don't know it.

2.  Add up the retail amount of all items and put in subtotal box.

3.  If you gave a discount and/or a free product total those and put in the blank box under subtotal.

4.  Subtract the discount from subtotal and put in "new subtotal' Box

5.  Multiply the new subtotal by tax rate.

3.  Add the new subtotal + the tax for her total.

Make sure you establish how she is going to pay.  If by credit card fill in the credit card info at the top.  Make sure after you run her card on ProPay if you chose to start with it, and then scribble out her card number for secruity reasons.

2.  CALCULATING SHIPPING 

First set up a Pirate Ship account at www.pirateship.com

CREATE & PRINT POSTAGE LABLES FROM YOUR COMPUTER

Save money by printing postage from home and not having to run to the post office to mail them!  All you need is an accurate scale and printer.  NOTE...I don't charge my customers for shipping, I feel that is a way to keep them ordering from me and not finding a "local" consultant who doesn't charge shipping.

3.  SET UP TIME FOR DELIVERY OR SET UP A PICK UP FOR THOSE LOCAL TO YOU.

It is my recommendation to get them their product as soon as possible to create that "You Matter Customer Service."  If you don't have it and need to order, make sure you order asap to avoid having an upset customer for having to wait.  You can do a "drop" shipment right from Mary Kay if you have ProPay and a personal website.

Also, if you have a crazy schedule, make sure to set up a delivery "DAY!"  You can say something like this:  "Suzie thank you so much for your order, I do all my deliveries on Friday afternoon, will that be soon enough to get your product?  If not, what day would work for you to stop by and pick it up?

(If you need to order something) Also I have almost everything on hand right now except the ???? Can you wait until I place my order on the (date) or should we go ahead and do a quick customer delivery service order and Mary Kay will ship it right to your door? (again you will need to have a ProPay account and personal website to offer this service.)

If customers know that they may have to wait a little while, they can be understanding, but do not let it drag out for weeks.  I have gained many customers who quit using Mary Kay because of inadequate service!  

My Thoughts!

I am so fortunate to have learned from the master herself~ Mary Kay Ash!  

​

She was brilliant as a communicator and had a way to LIFT you up even if you didn't know you needed to be lifted!

​

I believe her teaching is more relevant today than it was back in the day!

​

She taught us that communicating voice to voice is so very important.  Here is why!

​

People need to feel connected to each other and 2020 showed me that our connection with others is VITAL to our well-being.  EVERYONE uses social media to communicate, but there is something more special about voice to voice.

 

Mary Kay was a master at hand written notes as well.  A hand written note can brighten someone's day.

 because they are not use to getting anything personal like that in the mail anymore.

This is why I totally agree with Mary Kay, because I sincerely believe it is better!  Your customer can hear the excitement in your voice.  She feels special that YOU took time to actually CALL and TALK to HER!  There is real-time interaction so you can tell if she's excited too.  If she is having a bad day, you can hear that too so you be be that ray of sun to cheer her up.  

​

I reserve texting as sole source of communication until AFTER I have an established a solid relationship with my customers.  I want them to know that they are worth my time to call.  My best sales come from voice to voice communications.

​

From my perspective, if your social media is working amazingly for you, certainly don't change it.  You can use the voice to voice communication to really build your relationships!  But if you feel you are struggling, you may want to try using the voice to voice, just using social media may be part of why it isn't as effective.
